How do I know if my tyres are Run Flat tyres?
A larger proportion of newer cars are now equipped with run-flat tyres as standard. This technology gives you the ability to keep driving on a tyre with low pressure or a puncture for an additional 50 miles at speeds up to 50mph.
If you are unsure whether your car is fitted with run flats, they can be easily identified by the symbols on the sidewall of the tyre.
Rather than a standardised code to represent run flat tyres, most premium and mid-range tyre manufacturers have their own codes and symbols to indicate whether a tyre has run-flat capability. They are as follows:
Continental Run Flat Tyres – SSR
Dunlop Run Flat Tyres – DSST or ROF
Goodyear Run Flat Tyres – ROF or EMT
Bridgestone Run Flat Tyres - ROF or RFT or RSC Bridgestone MOE Check your hand book 80km to 30km depending on speed andload of vehicle.
Bridgestone tyres may also have the extended mobility logo.
Michelin Run Flat Tyres – ZP
Hankook Run Flat Tyres – tyres will be marked with HRS or have B at the end of the product number (e.g. K115B)
Pirelli Run Flat Tyres – RSC
Yokohama Run Flat Tyres – ZPS
